For example, First Sight’s projections rose quickly in advance of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the surge of gang violence in Port au Prince and the outbreak of cartel violence in Guadalajara.
Leveraging the latest advancements in linguistic AI and machine learning, First Sight detects changes in collective tension on social media. As social tension rises, the probability of disruption increases. The risk forecasts range from 10 to 24 days into the future.
First Sight is a powerful new tool for corporate and NGO teams charged with global security, travel safety, executive protection and humanitarian aid. The daily projections help guide a team toward more proactive decisions to protect the health and safety of people on the ground. Similar to a weather forecast, First Sight creates risk forecasts of future disruption in a metro area, not predictions of the events themselves. The technology does not track individuals or analyze what people are saying, but it quantifies how the crowd is communicating on social media – the collective intensity of conversations. First Sight adheres to Factal’s comprehensive code of ethics, and it’s available for limited use cases.
