Resources for the Israel-Iran conflict and regional air travel disruptions

From the first warning signs leading up to the attack, Factal has been covering the Israel-Iran conflict around the clock. In the first week alone, editors verified and published more than 1,000 real-time updates about missile launches, evacuations, damage, travel impacts and geopolitical fallout in our dedicated topic and map (above).

Members have been active in Factal’s Incident Chat, posting hundreds of messages, sifting through on-the-ground reports and engaging with Factal editors. Together, Factal’s verified coverage and incident chat provide the clearest real-time view of the conflict amid a torrent of online mis- and disinformation.

Air travel resources

One of the most discussed topics among members: regional air travel. While Factal editors continue to publish travel updates for members, here are some of the key public resources shared in Factal Chat:

Daily travel impact updates:

Airspace closures

  • Although most countries outside of Israel and Iran reopened airspace after the initial escalation, travelers should expect rolling closures during missile, drone, or military aircraft activity.

Airline-specific changes

  • CBS is updating on U.S. airlines adjustments to travel into the Middle East and Persian Gulf.
  • Aviation A2Z has documented more than 30 airlines that suspended service during the first week of conflict and continues to track updates.

Factal editors are closely monitoring social platforms, media sources and official channels to verify and publish any new strikes, airspace changes or travel restrictions as they happen. Factal members can follow a topic set that combines both the Israel-Iran conflict and air incidents.

More resources about the conflict

A weekly newsletter and podcast, Factal Forecast provides an outlook of coming events and developments. Here’s an excerpt about the Israel-Iran conflict on what to watch for next:

Watch for: Israeli officials signaled early on in the conflict that these latest attacks could last for weeks, an escalation that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed was in response to Iran being on the brink of producing a nuclear weapon. In fact, Iran was set to begin the sixth round of nuclear talks in Oman last Sunday, and although Tehran has, according to reports, signaled that it wishes to de-escalate tensions and return to indirect talks with the United States and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), analysts fear these attacks will continue for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, airspace in the region continues to be severely affected as IAEA’s Chief Mariano Grossi expresses worry about the danger of radiation leaks if nuclear facilities continue to be targeted.
